Support for the actor-turned-politician has been pouring in from fans, party supporters and members of the film industry alike ever since counting began on Monday. A surprising supportive voice came from Bollywood as Tiger Shroff stood in solidarity with Vijay given that the actor's party is currently leading.
While Tiger Shroff has not shared the screen with Vijay so far, his father, Jackie Shroff, has starred alongside the actor in the 2019 sports drama, Bigil. He plays the antagonist JK Sharma, the All India Football Federation president, opposite Vijay's football coach, Michael Rayappan. Interestingly, Malavika Mohanan once revealed that Vijay called out "Thalaivaa" while watching Tiger's entry scene and performance in Bhaagi 3.
Taking to X, Tiger wrote, "Congratulations to Vijay. The faith people have in you is amazing to see. More power to you for this next chapter!" A lot of actor-politician Vijay's fans have been flooding the comments of Tiger's X post with gratitude for his support.
A debut for Vijay, the actor-politician contested the election from two constituencies, namely, Trichy East and Perambur. The party also contested in Puducherry, where it is currently trailing behind the BJP alliance.
Meanwhile, a few members of the film industry have also been directly and indirectly showing their support for Vijay. Vijay's father, director SA Chandrasekhar, visited the Thiruthani Murugan temple on Monday ahead of the counting. Meanwhile, actors like Sibi Sathyaraj, Jai, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Sriman have also shared X posts supporting Vijay, either in a straightforward manner or with a hint.
On the work front, Tiger Shroff was last seen in Baaghi 4 and is currently working on Lag Jaa Gale, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya Lalwani. Helmed by Raj Mehta, the film is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Tiger is expected to be playing the role of the antagonist in the upcoming film.
On the other hand, Vijay is still awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, which was recently leaked online a month ago. The film's release is still in limbo, as the Censor Board for Film Certification is yet to provide a censor certificate for the film. With the results scheduled for today, the censor certificate is expected to be provided soon.
