Actor Sivakarthikeyan's rise to stardom has been an inspiration for many young actors in the industry. After working in several TV shows as an anchor and hosting award functions, the actor made his debut with director Pandiraaj's Marina (2012). After 13 years and 23 films, Sivakarthikeyan is one of the leading stars in Tamil cinema and recently acted in AR Murugadoss' Madharaasi.
The event marks a full circle for the actor as he had struggled to source tickets for Vijay's Thuppakki (2012), directed by the filmmaker, during the same year he made his debut. Reflecting on his rise in the industry and looking back at his 13-year-old viral post, the actor said, "I want to reiterate Kamal Haasan's dialogue here. The world has many surprises for us in the next second. At that time, acting in films was a big dream. I had no idea on what I would act as and my journey."
Sharing further words at the SIIMA awards event where he won an award for Amaran (2024), he recalled, "I love cinema. I didn't get ticket for Thuppakki during the time. It was Rajkumar (Periyasamy) who got me one as he was working as Murugadoss sir's associate."
Years later, Sivakarthikeyan and Rajkumar Periyasamy had collaborated on Amaran, which was released last year to phenomenal box office numbers and reviews. Also starring Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose and Bhuvan Arora, the film was the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan.
"I didn't think all this would contribute to my rise to stardom," he continued, adding "When we work sincerely with all our heart, this might come as a gift for that. I also interpret it as a divine intervention and nature's gift. Whatever it is, I don't want to take anything to my head. We need to work more."
He also had a few words to say about the viral 'gun scene' in Vijay's GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu, which was widely interpreted as Vijay passing the baton of the next big actor to Sivakarthikeyan.
Although he had denied the same in multiple interviews, stating that he merely saw it as an appreciation from the actor to continue his work, the scene continues to be a talking point even after several months. Reiterating the same, Sivakarthikeyan said, "The gun scene in GOAT happened after I almost completed three-fourth of shooting for Madharaasi. None of this was planned."
The actor can be currently seen in Madharaasi, which has been getting positive reviews from fans and critics. The film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Biju Menon, Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal in key roles. Up next, he has Parasakthi as his 25th film, with Sudha Kongara. A release date is yet to be confirmed by the makers.
