Actor Trisha has built a diverse and enduring career spanning over two decades, sharing the screen with leading stars in both the Tamil and Telugu film industries. While she has often spoken about her deep passion for acting, she has also, in the past, expressed an interest in stepping into the political arena in Tamil Nadu.
In an interview with Sun TV back in 2004, the actor, who was just a few films old at the time, said, "I want to become the CM of Tamil Nadu. Honestly! Wait and watch; You will see in 10 years..."
When she was probed on what she would do when she joins politics, the actor replied, "First, you all vote and elect me, then I’ll tell you."
While the actor's comments were made in a light-hearted way two decades ago, clips of the interview are doing the rounds for the last few months, especially on her birthday on Monday.
Trisha visited the famous Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati to offer prayers and seek blessings to mark her 43rd birthday. From there, the actor travelled back to Chennai and has now visited her co-star Vijay to congratulate him on his landslide victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Although counting is still underway, trends indicate Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)'s solid stance in the results, ending the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)'s duopoly in the state.
Trisha has also been in the news for her alleged relationship with the actor since the duo were seen together at a wedding event. Talks further intensified after Vijay's wife Sankgeetha filed for divorce from the actor based on irreconcilable differences, allegations of adultery, and mental strain. While Trisha has not deeply registered her wish to join politics in the recent past, debates and discussions continue to dominate social media.
On the film front, Trisha was last seen in Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam's Thug Life (2025). She is currently awaiting the release of Suriya's Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji.
