There has been much discourse around the alleged relationship between Vijay and Trisha, especially after their recent public appearance. The speculation about it has long been there, but it has intensified after Vijay's spouse Sankgeetha cited his relationship with an unnamed actor as the reason for filing for divorce. Meanwhile, Aarti Ravi, who is undergoing divorce proceedings with her actor spouse Ravi Mohan, shared a cryptic post about marital integrity when there is much speculation around Vijay and Trisha's alleged affair.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the actor wrote, "Interesting to observe the sudden chatter around the dignity of a wife. The insensitivity of moving on publicly, and the emotional cost of watching a marriage unravel in the public eye. And that conversation is not wrong. But it does make one pause and reflect on how there was far less noise when a similar situation unfolded last year."
According to Aarti, the reactions to the news about her separation from Ravi Mohan were 'rather muted' back then.
"Narratives were spun, assumptions were made, and widespread negativity followed because many chose to blindly believe a carefully churned narrative," she wrote about the events from back in the day.
Without mentioning Vijay or Trisha, she suggested that the chatter around their relationship versus the 'rather muted' reactions to her marital situation "raises a genuine question". She then asked, "Does empathy for a wife depend on the market value of the man involved? Or does it take the right political or social moment for her feelings to be seen and heard? And what about the many voices in far smaller spaces, without even the privilege of being heard?"
Seemingly empathising with Sankgeetha, she added, "I am grateful that the conversation seems to be shifting now. No wife deserves to quietly endure that kind of humiliation."
At the same time, Aarti Ravi questioned the tendency to empathise with only those with clout or influence. "But while we are finding our voices today, it is worth remembering that empathy should not be reserved only for the powerful. The dignity of a wife should never depend on the stature of the man involved," she signed off.
