Vetri Maaran is currently busy working with Silambarasan on their first collaboration, Arasan. In a recent interview with Touring Talkies, where the director shared the stage with filmmaker Ram, Vetri Maaran shared an update on the film.
He revealed, "Arasan will be completed soon. I have already finished the film's script, and so I will complete it sooner than I usually take for a film. I don't wish to say anything about what Silambarasan fans can expect from the film. But in a few days, we may be able to unveil some kind of glimpse. That footage will satiate the eagerness of fans, and you will know what we're working on."
Arasan, set in the Vada Chennai universe, also stars Vijay Sethupathi in a prominent role along with Yogalakshmi of Heart Beat and Tourist Family fame. From the Vada Chennai universe, Andrea Jeremiah and Samuthirakani are set to reprise their roles as Chandra and Guna. Recent speculations suggest that actor Vikranth and child artist Kamalesh Jagan of Tourist Family fame have also been added to the cast. The makers are yet to confirm the same.
Arasan's screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it. However, Dhanush soon came on board for Vada Chennai. The makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai.” According to the first promo released a few weeks ago, the film is set to feature Silambarasan in two avatars: as a youngster and as an aged man.
The cast is also set to reportedly feature Kishore reprising his role, along with newcomers Manikandan and Nelson. However, this still remains unconfirmed. Although they exist in the same universe, Dhanush's character Anbu is not a part of Arasan.
Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the film under his V Creations banner. It brings composer-singer Anirudh together with Silambarasan and director Vetri Maaran for the first time. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film, including its plot, the rest of the cast, and the technical crew.
