Ever since Vetri Maaran revealed that Arasan was a part of the Vada Chennai universe, anticipation for the Silambarasan starrer is quite high. Even as the film's second schedule of filming is about to commence this month, speculations are rife that actor Vikranth and Tourist Family-fame child artist Kamalesh Jagan have joined the film's cast. However, an official announcement from the film's team is awaited.
If the reports are to be believed, Kamalesh's casting comes after that of Yogalakshmi, who is known for the Abishan Jeevinth directorial, as well as the Heart Beat series on JioHotstar. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi in a prominent role. From the Vada Chennai universe, Andrea Jeremiah and Samuthirakani are set to reprise their roles as Chandra and Guna.
Arasan's screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it. However, Dhanush soon came on board for Vada Chennai. The makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai.” According to the first promo released a few weeks ago, the film is set to feature Silambarasan in two avatars: as a youngster and as an aged man.
The cast is also set to reportedly feature Kishore reprising his role, along with newcomers Manikandan and Nelson. However, this still remains unconfirmed. Although they exist in the same universe, Dhanush's character Anbu is not a part of Arasan.
Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the film under his V Creations banner. It brings composer-singer Anirudh together with Silambarasan and director Vetri Maaran for the first time. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film, including its plot, the rest of the cast, and the technical crew.
Meanwhile, Vikranth can be seen on JioHotstar'sLBW-Love Beyond Wicket, which premiered on the streamer on January 1. On the film front, he was last seen in Madharaasi in Tamil and in Mark in Kannada. He is currently working on Under 18, starring opposite Aishwarya Rajesh.
