Actor-director Samuthirakani, who has been busy working in many films in the Tamil and Telugu industries, is awaiting the release of his maiden web series Thadayam, directed by Navinkumar Palanivel. However, it is his re-entry into the world of Vada Chennai with Vetri Maaran-Silambarasan's Arasan, that has sparked significant anticipation, sparking curiosity surrounding the lead characters and their connection to the upcoming film which is currently in production.

Sharing a few details, Samuthirakani, who played Guna in the 2018 crime drama, headlined by Dhanush, confirmed that he, along with Senthil (Kishore), Rajan (Ameer), and Chandra (Andrea Jeremiah) are all part of Arasan. While it was previously announced that Andrea will reprise her role as Chandra in the film, Samuthirakani and Kishore's characters returning to the universe was highly speculated. Now, the actor has himself confirmed the same.

"We are all a part of the crime drama. I am not sure if there would be a Silambarasan and Dhanush face-off in the film. Vetri Maaran told me that I am there. There will be a magic in Arasan and the script has all the elements in it. Every time Vetri Maaran narrates the story, it feels completely different. Making Arasan requires a huge effort. Apart from that, I can't reveal anything," he shared.

The cast of Arasan also includes Vijay Sethupathi and Heart Beat and Tourist Family-fame Yogalakshmi. Arasan's screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it. However, Dhanush soon came on board for Vada Chennai. The makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai.” Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the film under his V Creations banner while Anirudh is scoring the music.

Meanwhile, Samuthirakani's upcoming series Thadayam's plot is "set in the rural border villages, and follows a disturbing pattern of midnight murders, each scene identical, each trail going cold, except for one chilling detail: the killer steals only the sacred symbols of marriage. As fear turns into folklore, a newly transferred officer uncovers a ritualistic thread behind the crimes, leading to a tense, night‑driven investigation where every revelation deepens the mystery." While Samuthirakani plays Sub-inspector Athiyaman, Sshivada takes on the role of Inspector Lakshmi, his superior.

The series also stars Raj Tirandas, Munnar Ramesh, Sundharpandyan, Prem, Kotravai, Vishakan, Pulipandi, Abhishek Joseph George, Ravichandran, Karthi, Suparna, and Dayalan.
