Filmmaker Vijay has reflected on witnessing Ajith Kumar’s latest motorsport milestone at Le Mans, calling the experience both historic and deeply personal. Ajith's recent racing competition, the Michelin Le Mans Cup, took place at the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans in Le Mans, France.

Sharing a note after attending the endurance race, Vijay thanked Ajith for inviting him to witness and document what he described as a significant chapter in Indian motorsport. The director wrote that being present at Le Mans, one of the world’s most celebrated and demanding racing events, was an unforgettable experience.

In his note, Vijay spoke about the stature of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and said the race occupies a unique place in motorsport history alongside events such as the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix. He added that competing there represents one of the sport’s highest challenges.

Calling Ajith’s participation a moment of pride, Vijay noted that the actor-racer’s entry into the Le Mans Cup carried meaning beyond an individual achievement. He said Ajith and his team had brought “the dreams and aspirations of an entire nation” to one of the biggest stages in global motorsport.

He also highlighted the performance registered by Ajith Redant Racing across the race weekend. Car #36, driven by Kartik Narain and Aditya Patel, secured a P13 finish in the Pro class, while Car #16, featuring Ajith Kumar and Romain Woźniak, finished P9 in the Pro-Am category.

“This is not merely a personal milestone for Ajith sir,” Vijay wrote, adding that the achievement would remain a defining moment when conversations around India’s journey in international motorsport are revisited. The filmmaker ended the note by wishing Ajith and the team continued success and many more memorable outings on the track.

Vijay’s presence at Le Mans also comes as he is currently directing Gladiators, a feature-length documentary project centred on Ajith’s racing journey. The film is expected to chronicle the challenges, setbacks and podium finishes that shaped Ajith and his team’s campaign across international motorsport circuits.
