With just a few weeks to go for the release of Jason Sanjay's directorial debut Sigma, headlined by Sundeep Kishan, anticipation around the film has been palpable among audiences.
Sharing some details on the upcoming actioner, Sundeep Kishan expressed confidence on the film, saying it has "come out very well". "We are very excited about it. We also realised that Sigma is not just a film but a cultural experience. It is Sanjay's debut and he has taken a completely alternative route wanting to be director. So we come with that responsibility," he said, in an interview with Galatta Plus, while promoting his upcoming Netflix series Super Subbu.
Elaborating on Jason Sanjay's choice to become a filmmaker instead of an actor, Sundeep said, "He could have had the best debut in the country or the world. It would have become the highest-grossing film from a debutant in history. It has all the potential. He could have taken the easier route, but he surprised all of us by becoming a director. We are also aware of the fact that Sigma is a film that everyone wants to watch, so it has to be a film that everyone understands. It's a happy action film," he added.
Earlier, Sundeep Kishan shared the working experience with the first-time filmmaker. Underlining that he is "extremely hardworking", Sundeep appreciated his calm and patient personality. "He and his team have been working on this project for a very long time. They did the pre-production as well as edit work extensively. One can learn a lot about patience from him, which I was really blown away by. For a 25-year-old to be that patient, calm and clear about what he wanted while directing was amazing," he said in an interview.
The ensemble cast of Sigma includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan, along with several cameo appearances. According to the makers, it is a "high-stakes heist" film, offering a combination of action, humour, heist, and treasure-hunt elements.
Meanwhile, Super Subbu, directed by Tillu Square-fame director Mallik Ram, is slated for release on Netflix on July 2. The comedy series stars Mithila Palkar as the female lead.
