Jiiva's latest film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil has emerged as a strong contender at the box office, and is currently the second leading film in the Pongal race behind Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi. Thanks to positive word-of-mouth reviews, the film's collection has witnessed an upward trajectory since its release on January 15. After registering Rs 1.5 crore on its first day, the Nithish Sahadev-directorial saw a 93.33 per cent jump in revenue to Rs 2.9 crore on day 2. Similarly, Day 3 also witnessed an 89.66 per cent increase to Rs 5.5 crore, with its first Sunday minting almost the same amount. The film's current total has crossed over Rs 15 crore. Thanks to the boost provided by the extended holidays for the Pongal festival, TTT has been enjoying houseful shows across the state.

Despite facing stiff competition from the Sudha Kongara directorial and Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is continuing to see increase in audience footfall across theatres and shows throughout the day, showcasing the strength of a content-driven film despite having lesser-known names in its supporting cast. Vaa Vaathiyaar, on the other hand, has only collected over Rs 5 crore in its five-day run. Parasakthi has maintained its lead position with almost Rs 50 crore in revenue at the box office in India.

Our CE review of the film read, "The best thing to happen to TTT is Jiiva understanding his role well. The caution Jeevarathinam takes not to lose a single vote in the run up to the election by playing the pacifier in both households and maintaining a humble demeanour to appease both Mani and Ilavarasu were some of the spaces the film works well. This crackpot of a plot is a work of genius and the beauty of it is that it doesn't require much brainstorming. Nithish has smartly placed screenplay landmines, or laughmines if you would, by knitting together multiple occurences with the potential of a laugh riot."

Recently took to social media to share a note expressing his gratitude to audiences for their "wonderful responses" to the film. The actor shared his delight at starting the New Year with a film that is close to his heart. "Truly overwhelmed by the immense love and warmth showered on Thalaivar Thambi Thalamaiyil. Every message, every word of encouragement has touched me deeply," he wrote on his X handle.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil marks Nithish's first film after 2023's Falimy, starring Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Sandeep Pradeep, and Manju Pillai. It is also the director's first Tamil film.

Apart from JiivaThalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which marks the actor's 45th film in his career, also has Prathana Nathan, Thambi Ramaiah, Subramani, Jenson Dhivakar, Ilavarasu, Jaiwanth, Savithri, Sasti Pranesh, Subash Kannan, Rajesh Pandian, Manimegalai, Sarjin Kumar, Mohan, Amith Mohan, Sharath, Anuraj OB, Surjith Gopinath and Shajeer P Basheer, among others.
