During the trailer launch of Jiiva's Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, the actor opened up on why his film's release was moved 15 days prior to lock a Pongal release. Directed by Nithish Sahadev of Falimy fame, the comedy drama film was initially set to release on January 30.
Even as he expressed happiness that his film was releasing for on January 15 during the festive occasion, the actor expressed disappointment and sadness at actor Vijay's Jana Nayagan not getting released during the time owing to censor-related issues. "We were supposed to come on January 30 but this date -- January 15 is what has been destined. As there is a void (because of the postponement of the release of Jana Nayagan), a lot of theatre owners had called us. While we are happy that we are getting calls from theatres, we are also saddened by the fact that Jana Nayagan hasn't released," he said, while adding that he too, like many fans is awaiting the release of the action film.
"That is because Vijay sir has been supportive to a lot of films, producers, actors, technicians in the last 25 to 30 years. We ourselves have done seven to eight films with him. Definitely our support is there for him," he added.
Apart from Jiiva, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which marks the actor's 45th film in his career, also has Prathana Nathan, Thambi Ramaiah, Subramani, Jenson Dhivakar, Ilavarasu, Jaiwanth, Savithri, Sasti Pranesh, Subash Kannan, Rajesh Pandian, Manimegalai, Sarjin Kumar, Mohan, Amith Mohan, Sharath, Anuraj OB, Surjith Gopinath and Shajeer P Basheer, among others.
