Having wrapped shooting for Nelson's Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is all set to start filming for his next, tentatively titled Thalaivar 173. The film's director, Cibi Chakravarthy, recently confirmed that the film is scheduled to go on floors in April. Meanwhile, as the buzz around the film is high, there are recent speculations about the cast of the film.

As per reports on social media, Malayalam actor Basil Joseph is all set to play Rajinikanth's son in the film. Additionally, Priyanka Mohan is also set to play a pivotal role in the film. However, an official confirmation is awaited from the makers.

Cibi is known for directing Don, starring Sivakarthikeyan. The filmmaker’s selection for Thalaivar 173, produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, came after Sundar C's widely discussed exit from the project.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth recently said that the film would be a piece of commercial entertainment. While Kamal is set to produce the film, he is yet to confirm his involvement in the film in an acting capacity. However, Raaj Kamal Films International has announced that composer Anirudh is part of the project. The makers are yet to reveal further details about it.

Basil Joseph recently made a cameo appearance in Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi. He currently has Athiradi and Raawadi, his first full-fledged Tamil film, in various stages of production. Priyanka Mohan, on the other hand, was last seen in They Call Him OG. She is shooting for Kavin 09 and 666 Operation Dream Theater, while her Made In Korea is slated to premiere on Netflix on March 12.

While Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is set to open in theatres on June 12, he is all set to star in a film with Kamal Haasan, tentatively titled KHxRK and helmed by Nelson.
