Actor Jatin Sarna recently finished filming his scenes for director Nelson Dilipkumar and superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, sources close to the actor confirmed exclusively to CE. Joining the production last August, Jatin steps into the shoes of the primary antagonist in the film, opposite Rajinikanth. He described the role as a pivotal milestone in his career and emphasised the depth of his character.
The actor recently shared a photograph featuring him with Rajinikanth. Speaking about it, he said, “Jailer 2 has been an incredible journey for me. I joined the team in August last year and have just wrapped up my shoot. I play the antagonist, and it’s a very interesting and well-defined role. One of the biggest challenges for me was the language, but that learning curve made the experience even more rewarding.”
Jatin is known for his breakout role in Netflix’s series Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan.
Director Nelson returns to direct the project under Kalanithi Maran’s production banner Sun Pictures, following the massive global success of the 2023 original. Reportedly, the film also stars Remya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Jaffer Sadiq, Shivarajkumar, Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Meghana Raj, Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo, and Anna Rajan, among others. There is also speculation about appearances in the film by Mohanlal, Mithun Chakravarti, Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan, although the producer is yet to confirm the same. That said, fans are eagerly awaiting the collaboration between Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan, who earlier shared screen space in 2011’s Ra One.
The makers wrapped production on the film in January. According to reports, the shooting locations include Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Palakkad, and Mysore, among others. The film is in post production now, and the makers are planning to release it theatrically in 2026 mid.
