Netflix announced on Tuesday that their upcoming Tamil original film, Made In Korea, will premiere on the streamer on March 12. The film is helmed by Ra Karthik, who previously directed Ashok Selvan’s Nitham Oru Vaanam, and stars Priyanka Mohan and Park Hye-Jin in lead roles in a cross-cultural collaboration.
As the title suggests, the film is set in Korea. The film’s plot reads, “When Shenba’s dream of visiting Korea with her boyfriend shatters in betrayal, she finds herself alone in Seoul, grappling with loneliness and cultural challenges. As she transforms through life's harsh lessons, Shenba discovers resilience and forms a bond for life with her newfound friends.”
Speaking about Made In Korea, Ra Karthik said, as per a press note, “I am quite fascinated with the deep cultural connections and historical similarities between Korean and Tamil heritage. This curiosity inspired me to tell a story that felt personal and full of hope. Made In Korea is a slice-of-life film crafted with warmth, celebrating this unique cultural bond, and I’m thankful to Netflix for championing stories that transcend languages and bring global cultures closer together.”
The film's lead, Priyanka Mohan, further said, “Shenba’s dream of Korea comes from a place of wonder and curiosity. I felt deeply connected to Shenba’s story from the first narration, and being part of this Netflix film makes the journey even more special.”
Srinidhi Sagar of Rise East Entertainment is the producer of the film. Rishikanth, Baek Si-hoon, Jaehyun Jang, Kim So-ri, Ha Ram, and Kim Rok are also a part of the film’s cast. On the technical front, the film will feature editing by Anthony, music composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Prasanna Kumar.
