At the Thaai Kizhavi pre-release event on Monday, the film's director, Sivakumar Murugesan, opened up about the hardships he faced before Sivakarthikeyan came onboard as the film's producer.
The first-time filmmaker took the analogy of two Tamils to explain what his state of mind was before he got a producer for Thaai Kizhavi. "In Tamil, ‘pasi’ and ‘patni’ may sound similar, but there is a vast difference between hunger and starvation. Many people experience hunger, but not everyone experiences starvation. Assistant directors who write content-driven scripts and knock on doors seeking producers who believe in stories rather than commercial elements are like people experiencing hunger. But when that aspiring filmmaker finally begins a project, only for it to be shelved after a few days of shooting, leaving behind debts and uncertainty due to issues like an NOC, that mental state is akin to starvation," he explained.
Further, the filmmaker was full of gratitude to Nenjam Undu Nermai Undu Odu Raja director Karthik Venugopalan and Thaai Kizhavi's producer, Sivakarthikeyan. "When I was going through such a phase, Karthik Venugopal took me to Sivakarthikeyan sir. When I was starving, even a small morsel would have been enough, but SK sir placed a grand feast before me in the form of Thaai Kizhavi. And just as I finish that fulfilling meal, he has once again blessed me with a sack of grains called Seyon. I will make sure to turn that into success."
Thaai Kizhavi stars Radikaa Sarathkumar in the lead alongside Raichal Rabecca, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Muthukumar, Aruldoss, Singampuli, Ilavarasu and George Mariyan. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar, editing by San Lokesh and music by Nivas K Prasanna. The film is gearing up for release on February 27.
