Meghan Markle could be heading back to the screen — and her next role may place her in the world of Guy Ritchie’s British crime drama The Gentlemen. The former Suits actor is reportedly in talks to join the potential third season of Netflix’s hit series, marking what could become her most significant acting role since she stepped away from the profession in 2018.

The development comes shortly after reports that Markle and Prince Harry are planning to return to the UK with their two children for an extended period. While reports have linked her acting plans with the move, the details surrounding both developments remain unconfirmed. Markle’s representatives and Netflix have not commented on the casting reports.

Importantly, the project is still at a very early stage. The Gentlemen has not officially received a third-season renewal from Netflix, and reports indicate that no contract has been signed with Markle. Her character has also not been finalised.

According to reports from The Sun, however, Markle could potentially play an “ultimate temptress” who disrupts the lives of the show's aristocratic characters. The report suggests that the character could become involved with Theo James' Eddie Horniman, though this remains speculation at this stage.

If the deal comes through, the project would reunite Markle with Netflix, the streaming platform with which she and Harry already have a production relationship through their Archewell Productions banner. Their projects for the streamer include the docuseries Harry & Meghan and Markle's lifestyle series With Love, Meghan.

Created by Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen is a television spin-off of his 2019 crime comedy of the same name. The series follows Eddie, played by Theo James, an aristocratic former soldier who inherits his family's country estate and discovers that it is connected to a sprawling cannabis operation and the British criminal underworld.

The first season premiered in 2024 and became a popular Netflix title. The second season, featuring James alongside Kaya Scodelario, is scheduled to premiere on September 3. A third season is yet to be officially announced.

For Markle, a confirmed role would represent a return to a profession she largely left behind after marrying Prince Harry in 2018. She rose to international recognition as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, appearing in the series from 2011 to 2018. She has remained connected to screen projects since leaving acting, primarily through her and Harry's Netflix productions. She is also set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends, which stars Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
