The refined aggression of Netflix's The Gentlemen is returning, as the second season of the action comedy created by Guy Ritchie begins filming, with the gang adding more numbers. The series is based on Guy Ritchie's 2019 film, which starred Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, and Michelle Dockery, among others.

Retaining the tailored suits, the humongous estates, and the weed dens beneath the estates from the film, the series revolved around Freddie Horniman (Theo James), a British Army officer who inherits the title of Duke from his father after his passing when he finds out about the weed trade beneath his estate, which pulls him into the world of drugs and gangsters, including Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), with whom he teams up to run a weed empire.

Speaking about the new season to Netflix, Ritchie said, “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players. The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”

Several members of the cast from season one are returning for the second season, including Daniel Ings, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Micheal Vu, Harry Goodwins, Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Season Two of The Gentlemen adds Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti, and Maya Jama.

Ritchie serves as an executive producer on the series with Will Gould, Read, Frith Tiplady and Simon Crawford Collins, and Ivan Atkinson. Ritchie serves as a director with Eran Creevey and as a writer with Matthew Read. Laura Jackson and Max Keene are producing the series. Moonage Pictures and Miramax Television are backing the series.
