Selvaraghavan, who is currently busy with multiple projects in hand, continues to be probed about the development of sequels to his cult-classic films Pudhupettai, 7G Rainbow Colony and Aayirathil Oruvan. While filming for 7G Rainbow Colony 2 is currently ongoing, the director recently revealed that he had completed writing Pudhupettai 2. Aayirathil Oruvan 2 (also called AO2), was announced with Dhanush as the lead in 2021, the film continues be in the scripting stages.
Speaking about why he leaves room for sequels in his films, Selvaraghavan explained that it is a deliberate choice. "When you are writing a film itself, you always leave a space there for a part 2 to continue."
Elaborating on 7G Rainbow Colony 2 and the challenges it gave for him, Selvaraghavan said, "It was difficult because the film ended with Anitha's death and Kathir getting affected mentally due to her loss. Producer AM Rathnam also understood the challenges but gave it a green signal." He also assured that the film would hit screens this year.
The upcoming film stars Ravi Krishna reprising his role from the first film. Anaswara Rajan stars as the female lead. Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja too has returned to the franchise. The star-studded cast also features Jayaram, along with Suman Shetty and Sudha, who are also returning to play their roles as Lakshmi Narayanan (Suman Setty) and Kadhir's mother, respectively.
Selvaraghavan is currently awaiting the release of Manithan Deivamagalam, directed by Dennis Manjunath. Scheduled for release on April 10, the film also stars Kousalya, RS Sathish, YG Mahendra, Mime Gopi, Lirthika, Sudha, Jothikannan, and Salem Deepak.
