Filmmaker-actor Selvaraghavan has revealed details about the struggles of developing a sequel to 7G Rainbow Colony, ahead of the release of his upcoming acting feature Manithan Deivamagalam.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Selvaraghavan stated that 7G Rainbow Colony has a story that doesn't lend itself to a sequel. "We actually finish the first movie with the lead going to a good job, becoming responsible, and someone who still talks to his dead girlfriend. It will be curious to see how he sees things after these incidents. How will he look at his life, and does he ever move on, or does he keep dwelling in his imaginary world, is an interesting question to address in a sequel."
He also added that he had turned producer AM Rathnam multiple times when the latter wanted a sequel to the film, saying that the film has attained completeness.
Selvaraghavan will be seen playing the lead role in Dennis Manjunath's Manithan Deivamagalam, which is set to release in theatres on April 10. On the directorial front, he has Mental Manadhil, starring GV Prakash, and 7G Rainbow Colony 2. He said that he is planning to release both his directorial features in 2026.
