After the massive success of Meiyazhagan, Karthi is gearing up for his next big outing, Marshal, directed by Tamizh of Taanakkaran fame. The film, mounted on a grand scale, is set in the 1960s and reportedly revolves around pirates. It will be shot entirely in Rameswaram, with elaborate sets already under construction.

Now, as per the latest reports, comedian Vadivelu has joined the film's cast. If reports are to be believed, the veteran, who recently impressed audiences in Maamannan and Maareesan, will be sharing the screen with Karthi for the very first time. While details of his role remain under wraps, speculations are rife about whether he will be seen as the antagonist or in another powerful avatar. Either way, fans are confident his presence will add a distinct edge to the film.

Interestingly, Marshal was initially linked with Malayalam star Nivin Pauly, but scheduling conflicts ruled him out. Actor Aadhi was also said to be under consideration before the makers finalised Karthi in the lead. Kalyani Priyadarshan has been confirmed as the female lead. It is still unclear if Aadhi Pinisetty is set to play an antagonist in the film.

Tamizh, who made a strong debut with Taanakkaran by addressing the internal politics of the police system, is now attempting a full-fledged period adventure. With Vadivelu stepping into a pivotal role, expectations around the film have shot up.

On the technical front, the crew boasts top names—Sai Abhyankkar will handle music, Sathyan Sooryan is on cinematography, Philomin Raj takes charge of editing, and Arun Venjaramoodu is the production designer.

Produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures, along with Ishan Saksena, Sunil Shah, and Raja Subramanian, Marshal is shaping up to be one of Karthi’s most ambitious films yet.
