With less than six months left for the release of Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film before his full-time stint in politics, anticipation for the film is sky high. Recent reports have revealed that some filmmakers who have worked with Vijay are set to be seen in cameo appearances in the upcoming film.
As per a report by Valaipechu, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Atlee and Nelson will be seen in cameo roles in the H Vinoth directorial. They will reportedly feature as journalists in the film. However, official confirmation is awaited. Lokesh Kanagaraj worked with Vijay on Master and Leo. Atlee helmed Vijay's Theri, Mersal and Bigil. Nelson and Vijay worked together for Beast.
Recently, reports also suggested that N Anand, General Secretary of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, actor-politician Vijay's political party, will appear in the film. Apart from Vijay, Jana Nayagan stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, Teejay Arunasalam, and Sunil, among others. Vijay will be seen as a cop in the upcoming film.
On the technical front, Jana Nayagan features music composed by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, action choreography by Anl Arasu, and art direction by Selva Kumar.
Jana Nayagan is produced by Venkat K Narayana and co-produced by Lohith N K and Jagadish Palanisamy. The film will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, for the Pongal festival season.
Meanwhile, Lokesh is fresh off the release of Rajinikanth's Coolie. Officially, he is set to work on Kaithi 2, along with Arun Matheswaran's directorial, marking his acting debut. However, recent rumours suggest that the director may take up a project with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Atlee, on the other hand, is working on Allu Arjun's 22nd film, tentatively titled AA22xA6. Nelson is busy filming for Jailer 2 with Rajinikanth.
