Mari Selvaraj's latest sports drama Bison Kaalamaadan, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead role has earned over Rs 2.5 crore across India on its first day. The film has been receiving positive reviews from audiences and critics for its gritty, hard-hitting and emotional storytelling. Trichy, Chennai, Dindigul and Madurai regions saw the most occupancy in theatres for the film with night shows registering 53.03 per cent turnout. Given the strong word-of-mouth reviews, Bison's collections is expected to improve during the festive weekend.

Our CE review of the film read, "Bison is Mari Selvaraj’s most violent to date, and it is beautiful how the gore and bloodshed aren’t at the hands of the protagonist, but everywhere around him. It is a terrific exploration of the aftermath of violence and its unsettling consequences in the minds of the young and easily influenced."
