Mari Selvaraj: Skin complexion never came in the way of casting Dhruv in Bison

As filmmaker Mari Selvaraj gears up for his upcoming film, Bison Kaalamaadan, he reveals that the skin tone of an actor has never come in the way of casting for films.

Responding to comments on choosing Dhruv as the lead for his latest film, Mari said, "It is not a rule that making a rooted rural film necessarily warrants me to cast someone with a dark complexion. I believe there are people of all skin types everywhere. The lighter skintone of Dhruv was never a hindrance, and I wouldn't even count it as a criticism of the choice of my casting. The only genuine grouse that someone could have is whether or not I have trained him well as a Kabaddi player and a farmer. It is only when Dhruv doesn't look convincing in these portions that I would take it as a genuine criticism. I believe I have worked on these portions well, and Dhruv has given his fullest."

Bison Kaalamaadan, billed as a sports-family drama, is written and directed by Mari Selvaraj, with music composed by Nivas K Prasanna in his first collaboration with the director. The cast for Bison Kaalamaadan includes Anupama Parameshwaran, Ameer, Lal, Rajisha Vijayan, Azhagam Perumal, Aruvi Madhan, and Anurag Arora.

The crew of the film includes Ezhil Arasu K as the cinematographer, Sakthi Thiru as the editor, Kumar Gangappan as the art director, and Dhilip Subbarayan as the action choreographer. Pa Ranjith is producing the film along with Sameer Nair, Aditi Anand, and Deepak Segal. Sunil Chainani, Pramod Cheruvalath, and Prasoon Garg serve as co-producers on the film. Applause Entertainment and Neelam Studios are the banners backing the film.

Bison is releasing alongside Keerthiswaran's Dude, Shanmugam Muthusamy's Diesel, and Ram Chakri's Carmeni Selvam.
