On Monday, the first look of actor Silambarasan's 49th film, Arasan, helmed by Vetri Maaran, was unveiled. Even as the intensity of the buzz around the film went high, Silambarasan was found meditating at the Suththa Sanmarkka Sathya Gnana Sabhai, a temple constructed by saint Sri Raamalinga Swaamigal, also known as Vallalaar, in the town of Vadalur in Cuddalore district.
Videos and photos of his visit to the temple are currently being circulated on social media. In one video, a devotee at the Vallalar temple can be seen explaining to the actor that if one follows Vallalar’s principles of non-violence and compassion towards all living beings, everything in life will fall into place.
Responding to the devotee, Silambarasan can be seen saying, "I prayed that, like Vallalar, who provided food to the poor, the simple, and the helpless, I too should be able to provide meals for children in need. That’s why, when Vallalar called, I immediately came to the Vadalur Sathya Gnana Sabai and sought blessings from Vallalar Swamigal.”
Arasan, which is currently in production, is part of the Vada Chennai universe, as revealed by Vetri Maaran earlier. The filmmaker is set to make use of the screenplay he originally wrote for the 2018 Dhanush-starrer. While he wrote the script with Silambarasan as his lead, the director had to make changes to make it align with Dhanush's role. Reportedly Samantha is in talks to play the film's female lead alongside Silambarasan, with an official announcement awaited.
Arasan is expected to feature notable names from Vada Chennai, including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, alongside newcomers Manikandan and Nelson Dilipkumar. However, an official confirmation regarding the same is awaited. Despite being in the same universe, it has been confirmed that Dhanush's character Anbu is not a part of Arasan.
