Earlier, we reported about actor Silambarasan TR and director Vetri Maaran collaborating on a film, tentatively titled STR 49. Earlier today, its producer Kalaippuli S Thanu of V Creations revealed that the film's trailer will be out soon on social media and in theatres at the same time. "Once the censorship formalities are over, the grand trailer will be out soon," the producer wrote. He also put the decision to release the trailer theatrically down to "affectionate requests" from Vetri Maaran and Silambarasan's fans. "This is a special moment for us to express our gratitude to the fans for the trust and love they have placed in the Silambarasan-Vetri Maaran collaboration. Get ready for the celebration," the producer added.
When he announced the project earlier this year, Vetri Maaran revealed that it would be part of his Vada Chennai universe. In a recent interview, he also disclosed that the film would make use of the screenplay he originally wrote for Vada Chennai. He wrote the script initially with Silambarasan in mind, but he had to change it to make it appropriate for a Dhanush film. The filmmaker also said that while some characters in both Vada Chennai and STR 49 would be common, the latter film would not feature Dhanush's Anbu.
The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film's cast, plot, and technical crew.
