A series of email threats sent to major film personalities have caused a flurry in Tamil Nadu in recent times. On Friday, actor Arun Vijay had received a bomb threat email from an unknown sender, prompting the Chennai police and bomb squad teams to investigate the location. According to reports, the DGP office in the city received an email threat from an unidentified sender who wrote about planting a bomb in the actor's residence in the Ekkattuthangal area.
Upon thorough inspection from the squad as well as police, no explosive device was found at his place. However, authorities are conducting an intensive investigation to find the source of the email. Further enquiries are also underway.
Earlier, Rajinikanth, Dhanush and actor-turned-political leader Vijay received bomb threats. Similar threats were issued to the houses of Trisha and Nayanthara. Eminent composer Ilaiyaraaja's T Nagar studio was also targeted by a bomb hoax in October. This has also extended to high-profile locations, including the Chief Minister’s residence, the Opposition leader’s house, the Governor’s Mansion, and major railway stations.
Arun Vijay, who was last seen in Dhanush's Idli Kadai, is awaiting the release of Kris Thirukumaran's Retta Thala where he plays dual roles, produced by Bobby Balachandran under his BTG Universal banner. The film also stars Sidhi Idnani, Tanya Ravichandran, Yogi Samy, John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, and Balaji Murugadoss, among others. The film is slated for release on December 18.
