Following India’s Operation Sindoor, which hit nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, actor Vijay, through the official handle of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), conveyed his respect for the Indian Army. He wrote in Tamil, “A royal salute to the security operations of the Indian Army!”
The official statement from the Indian Defence Ministry on the operation reads, "A little while ago, the Indian armed forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Altogether, nine sites have been attacked.”
The operation came as a response to the Pahalgam attack, which left over 26 civilians, mostly tourists, dead after five armed militants opened fire in Baisaran Valley. The Resistance Front (TRF), which is believed to be an offshoot of the Pakistan-based UN-designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, initially claimed responsibility.
Vijay announced his entry into politics in February 2024, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. While he did not participate in the general elections, he is now gearing up to participate in the impending Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections, which are scheduled for 2026. Meanwhile, he is currently working on his final film, Jana Nayagan, helmed by H Vinoth. His 69th, the film will be his last before his deep dive into politics.
Also starring Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain, among others, Jana Nayagan is slated to hit theatres on January 9, 2026, for the Pongal festival season.
