At the Chennai event of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Kiara Advani opened up about her experience working on the film and shared an emotional anecdote about Yash and director Geetu Mohandas being among the first people she informed about her pregnancy.
Speaking about the women in the film, Kiara praised Geetu for bringing out a fearless side of her as an artist. “I want to thank you for making me a fearless artist. That’s why I said there will be a Kiara before and Kiara after, because what she gave me was a sense of fearlessness. And it takes guts, and you just gave me a little bit of your guts,” she said.
Kiara then spoke about her bond with Yash and Geetu, recalling how they reacted when she shared her pregnancy news with them. “When I got pregnant, after my family, you were the first two people I shared the news with. And in that moment, you didn’t think about how we would finish the film, the logistics, or none of that. You both smiled with tears in your eyes, congratulated me and said, ‘We’re going to have the time of our lives,’” Kiara recalled.
She added that the duo's response left a lasting impression on her. “I will never forget that you said, ‘Come on set, be comfortable, eat whatever you want, and we’re going to make the best film.’ And we truly did. You truly, truly did make me feel like I could do anything in that moment,” she said.
Kiara also had words of praise for her co-stars. Calling Nayanthara a “fine actor", she said she had the privilege of getting to know her as a person during the making of Toxic. She described Huma Qureshi as a “powerhouse” and said audiences would get to see Rukmini Vasanth in a new light in the film.
Turning to Yash, Kiara called him “our Rocky Bhai” and “our rocking star” and said there was “really no one like” him. “It’s truly been an honour and a privilege to work with you, to be a part of your vision, a part of your madness,” she said.
Kiara also expressed hope that audiences would feel the passion and madness that went into Toxic, which she said was made with the vision of taking Indian cinema and its artists and technicians to a global audience. Headlined by Yash, and also starring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth, the Geetu Mohandas directorial will open in theatres worldwide on August 26.
