Shiver is an upcoming high-concept sci-fi thriller that will bring together John Wick star Keanu Reeves and Deadpool director Tim Miller. Warner Bros. is reportedly close to acquiring the film.
The film, penned by Infinite screenwriter Ian Shorr, is said to combine the time-loop intensity of Edge of Tomorrow with the survival suspense of The Shallows. Though plot details remain largely under wraps, Shiver is believed to follow a down-on-his-luck smuggler who becomes entangled in a dangerous double-cross while on a mission in the Caribbean. Trapped between ruthless mercenaries, floating corpses, and circling sharks, he soon discovers he’s caught in a deadly time loop, forced to relive his own demise until he can break free.
The project will be produced by Kingsman creator Matthew Vaughn under his Marv Films banner, alongside Aaron Ryder, known for Dumb Money and All of You.
For Miller, Shiver marks a return to large-scale genre filmmaking. The filmmaker, who started as a visual effects artist, made his directorial debut with the record-breaking Deadpool before going on to helm Terminator: Dark Fate and create Netflix’s acclaimed anthology series Love, Death & Robots.
Reeves, meanwhile, continues to balance action blockbusters with eclectic roles. Though his recent releases, Ballerina, a John Wickspinoff, and Good Fortune, directed by Aziz Ansari, underperformed at the box office, the actor remains in high demand. Among his upcoming projects is BRZRKR, the live-action Netflix adaptation of the comic he co-created with Boom! Studios.
