James Cameron's third part to his blockbuster Avatar franchise has been consistently adding big numbers to its worldwide collections. Within a week of release, the film had grossed approximately Rs 131 crore in collections in India, making it the highest-earning Hollywood film in the country in 2025, surpassing Brad Pitt's much-acclaimed F1. The sports action drama minted over Rs 129 crore in India and was re-released to meet increase in footfall and requests from fans. Worldwide, Avatar: Fire and Ash has reportedly crossed over Rs 500 crore and is looking at comfortably passing the Rs 1000 crore mark in the upcoming days.

Fire and Ash debuted in theatres in India on December 19 and collected over Rs 20 crore in collections across the country on day 1. However, reviews for it has been mixed and the numbers fell short of the mammoth revenue Way of Water minted in 2022. Back then, the film minted over Rs 50 crore on its opening day. In its opening weekend, Fire and Ash amassed over $345 million, becoming the third-highest in first weekend collections this year after Zootopia 2 ($560.3 million) and and China’s animated movie Ne Zha 2 ($431.2 million). Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to outperform Fire and Ash in India. Within 20 days, the film has breached the Rs 1000 crore mark, beating Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. But thanks to the franchise's fans, the film has been earning over Rs 10 crore every day in its first week.

Returning for Avatar: Fire and Ash, are Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, and Kate Winslet. Oona Chaplin, known for playing Talisa Maegyr in Game of Thrones, is portraying the antagonist Varang, the leader of the Ash People. David Thewlis, who is known for playing Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise, playing Peylak in the film.

The third part in the blockbuster franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash begins with Jake and Neytiri's family grappling with grief after Neteyam's death. During the same time, they encounter a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe called the Ash people, led by the fiery tribe leader, Varang, who has allied with Jake's enemy, Quaritch, as the conflict on Pandora escalates to devastating consequences.

Our CE review of the film read, "It is this audacity of the filmmaker that becomes the relentless pulse that still beats life into this ever-expanding story. The biggest strength of Avatar is that it stirs the ancient instinct in the back of our minds to find the perfect world, where rocks float, plants light up in the dark, animals talk to you, and connecting with others is as simple as tethering the neural fibres growing out from the back of your head."
