Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, who recently helmed the much celebrated F1, starring Brad Pitt in the lead, said he "would love" to create a sequel to the sports drama.

"I personally would love to see what other adventures Sonny Hayes has in his future," Kosinski said during Contenders Film Los Angeles, as reported by Deadline. He further added, "I'd love to see what's happened with the APXGP team and Joshua Pearce, and see how his career goes, so I would love to be able to tell another chapter in that story and it's something we just started kinda dreaming about and it's fun to be in this stage of imagining what that might be."

F1 follows a former Formula One driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt) who returns from retirement to mentor and team up with a rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). He goes head-to-head with him, and struggles to succeed. Javier Bardem and Kerry Condon also star in the film.

Many real-life Formula One drivers are also part of the film as themselves, including Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Fernando Alonso, among others.

The film, released in June, was a major commercial success across the world. Apart from becoming Apple Studios' highest-grossing theatrical release of all time, F1 has also become a celebrated entry into the top-most position of Brad Pitt's career as it is the actor's highest-grossing movie in his career. The film broke multiple box office records and collected over $600 million against a $200–300 million budget, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2025, the highest-grossing auto racing film. The film was also re-released in India and other countries due to popular demand.

The film will land on OTT platform Apple TV+ on December 12.
