The Baahubali franchise is not over yet. SS Rajamouli's epic action duology (2015 and 2017), that made waves across the globe, is expanding its borders to encompass a new project very soon. In the recent Netflix documentary Baahubali: The Torchbearer which details the making, cultural impact and legacy of the movies, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty were seen dropping a hint on a new movie in the franchise.

During the concluding moments of the four-episode series, Rana Daggubati said, "I don't know if I should say this publicly, but since Rajamouli and Shobu garu (the producer) aren't here, I'll just say what's on my mind. The world may not be ready yet, but there will be more Baahubali!" The screen then cuts to black with the words, "And the legacy continues..."

Details regarding the project currently remains unknown. It has also not been revealed if there will be a Baahubali 3. However, fans are hopeful and are anticipating another blockbuster outing from Rajamouli.

While Baahubali: The Beginning had earned over Rs 600 crore, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion minted a whopping Rs 1800 worldwide. Besides its popularity across the country, the films cemented a legacy worldwide, putting Telugu and Indian cinema on the global map for the scale of its story, engaging screenplay and narration. Widely regarded as one of the most influential films of Indian cinema, the film received several accolades and propelled the popularity of Rajamouli.

Last year, on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Baahubali: The Beginning, the makers crafted a unique experience titled Baahubali: The Epic a combined feature consisting of the two films. With a runtime of 225 minutes, it was one of the longest Indian films and had some never-before-seen footages with technical enhancements.

Interestingly, the film featured a mid-credits sequence where the murdered Prince Baahubali enters the afterlife and joins an eternal war between gods and demons across 14 realms. The entire sequence was in an animated format, paving way for Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 and Part 2 which is slated to release in 2027 and 2028 respectively. It is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Ishan Shukla.

The popularity of the Baahubali franchise had given rise to various forms of media including three novels titled The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga and Queen of Mahishmathi; Animated series The Lost Legends and Crown of Blood; and graphic novel Baahubali: Battle of the Bold.
