Samantha Ruth Prabhu has made a sensational comeback with Maa Inti Bangaram. Released on June 19, the film has now achieved a major milestone by entering the prestigious Rs 100 crore club at the worldwide box office. Directed by Nandini Reddy and jointly produced by Samantha, Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvvuru under the Tralala Pictures banner, the film has emerged as one of the biggest successes of the year.
More importantly, Maa Inti Bangaram has created history by becoming the first female-led Telugu film to gross over Rs 100 crore worldwide. At a time when several big-budget films have struggled at the box office, Samantha's emotional family drama has surprised the trade with its outstanding performance.
Samantha was last seen in Kushi, opposite Vijay Deverakonda, which was released in 2023. After taking a break from Telugu cinema, she returned with renewed confidence and delivered one of the biggest hits of her career.
Before Maa Inti Bangaram, Samantha made her debut as a producer with Subham, introducing several newcomers. Directed by Praveen Kandregula, the small-budget film turned out to be a surprise success and gave Samantha the confidence to back more content-driven projects.
In Maa Inti Bangaram, Samantha plays Swarna, the daughter-in-law of a traditional joint family who wins over every member with her courage, compassion and determination. Haunted by a troubled past, Swarna eventually confronts it with the unwavering support of her family.
The film marks Samantha's third collaboration with director Nandini Reddy after Jabardasth and Oh! Baby. Their successful partnership has once again delivered a memorable entertainer that connected strongly with family audiences.
Interestingly, Samantha's husband Raj Nidimoru also contributed to the screenplay. Raj, one half of the acclaimed filmmaker duo Raj & DK, is known for successful web series such as The Family Man, Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs and Citadel. Samantha had earlier worked with Raj & DK in The Family Man 2 and Citadel: Honey Bunny.
Drawing from her action-oriented performances in those web series, Samantha also showcased an action-packed side in Maa Inti Bangaram, which was well received by audiences. At the same time, the film's emotional family drama and strong female-centric narrative attracted large numbers of women and family audiences to theatres.
With Maa Inti Bangaram crossing the Rs 100 crore milestone, Samantha has not only made a successful comeback but also created a new benchmark for female-led Telugu cinema. The achievement is expected to encourage more women-centric films with strong theatrical potential in the future.
