The team of SSMB29, the much hyped SS Rajamouli–Mahesh Babu collaboration, finds itself dealing with yet another unwanted leak. A new working still from the sets in Kenya has surfaced online, showcasing Mahesh Babu in a rugged avatar.
In the leaked frame, Mahesh Babu appears in an olive-green full-sleeved t-shirt and jeans, standing against the expanse of what looks like open plains. Fans are already spinning theories, with many convinced the still belongs to an action sequence.
This is not the first time Rajamouli’s big-ticket production has had trouble with leaks. Earlier this year, during the Koraput schedule in Odisha, visuals featuring both Mahesh and antagonist Prithviraj Sukumaran, whose casting wasn't announced, found their way online, much to the frustration of the production team.
Known for his strict set security, Rajamouli has reportedly tightened protocols following the Kenya incident. With a reported budget upwards of Rs 1,200 crore and nearly 95% of the African schedule being filmed in Kenya, the director is determined to safeguard the project’s secrecy.
Adding to the anticipation, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is unofficially part of the film. The film, scripted by Vijayendra Prasad and scored by MM Keeravani, is pitched as a globe-trotting jungle adventure that will blend cultural narratives with Rajamouli’s trademark action spectacle.
While local Kenyan media have speculated about the possibility of SSMB29 being released in two parts, industry insiders suggest Rajamouli may stick with a single film. Either way, the project’s scale and ambition are clear, with its release locked for March 2027.
Leaks aside, the intrigue around SSMB29 only seems to be deepening. The first look, expected in November 2025, will likely offer fans an official glimpse at what has already become one of India’s most ambitious cinematic exports.
