While the makers of many big Telugu films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Kingdom have decided to postpone their film’s release citing production delays, Kuberaa stands intact on its initial announcement of a June 20 release. However, in a recent interview, Kuberaa producer Suniel Narang spilled beans on the many factors influencing the film’s release, and why they couldn’t push it any further.
Talking about his film’s budget and revenue break-up, Suniel stated that Prime Video has bought OTT rights for Kuberaa for Rs 47 crore. However, he also added that the streamer threatened to cut the OTT deal price by Rs 10 crore if the release was postponed any further.
While the film has already cleared censorship formalities, Suniel spoke about their internal discussions where the team might go for a shorter runtime, bringing down the film's duration to 2 hour 50 minutes, instead of the currently locked 3 hour 15 minutes.
Among other subjects, the producer also indirectly expressed his dissatisfaction at not being able to promote his film’s soundtrack on a certain timeline, because of delays on composer Devi Sri Prasad’s end. The film’s new single, ‘Pippi Pippi Dum Dum,’ will be launched at a grand event in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, Kuberaa is made on a total budget of Rs 150 crore. Sekhar Kammula helms the direction for the film. The film’s official trailer is scheduled to be released on June 13.
