The official trailer of upcoming period action-drama Champion was unveiled at a grand ceremony on Thursday evening. Besides the primary cast and crew, Ram Charan and Nag Ashwin were present at the event as well. Champion is being produced by Priyanka Dutt, whom Nag is married to.

The story of Champion is set in a post-Independent India around 1948, when some sections of the nation were still going major political turmoil. Roshan Meka plays a young footballer who dreams of becoming a legendary figure. However, his plans of going to London are thwarted, and it all boils down to him being part of an official government-dictated mission which compels him to visit Bairanpally. The protagonist, however, gets involves in the lives of Bairanpally villagers, and surprising rebels against the very officials who sent him there.

Champion promises to capture the Bairanpally massacre of 1948. It is to be noted that another recent Telugu film, Razakar, told a similar story.

Champion is written and directed by Pradeep Advaitham. The period action drama also stars Anaswara Rajan in her Telugu debut. Additionally, actors like Kay Kay Menon and Murali Sharma are part of the ensemble cast. Avanthika Vandanapu promisingly makes a guest appearance. Mickey J Meyer has composed music for the film.

Champion is all set for theatrical release on December 25, and will have considerable competition from several other small-scale films like Shambhala, Patang, Dhandoraa and Eesha

The film is jointly banmrolled under the banners of Swapna Cinema, Zee Studios, Anandi Art Creations, and Concept Films. In the technical team, the film has Madhie ISC as the cinematographer and veteran production designer Thota Tharani. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor.
