Geetha Arts that has had releases like Thandel and #Single earlier this year, and also presented Rashmika Mandanna starrer The Girlfriend, is now reportedly to bankroll a biopic next. According to some reports, the makers are planning to make a biopic about legendary classical singer MS Subbalakshmi.
Some reports also state that Sai Pallavi is being considered to play the lead role. Gowtham Tinnanuri who has made acclaimed films like Malli Raava and Jersey, has been reportedly signed to direct the film. His last project was the Vijay Deverakonda starrer Kingdom.
Geetha Arts is yet to make an official announcement about the same. They had previously collaborated with Sai Pallavi on Thandel, which starred Naga Chaitanya in the lead. Sai Pallavi, meanwhile, is currently busy shooting for the much-anticipated Ramayana, co-starring with Ranbir Kapoor where Nitesh Tiwari helms the direction.
MS Subbalakshmi, who passed away 21 years ago at the age of 88, was the first musician ever to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour and also the first Indian musician to receive the Ramon Magsaysay award in 1974. She was also the first Indian to perform at the United Nations General Assembly in 1966.
The legendary singer had also acted in a few films early in her career, from 1938 to 1947.
