Thiruveer, who rose to recognition with films like Masooda and Palasa 1978, is now gearing up for his next release The Great Pre Wedding Show, which hits theatres tomorrow. This is Thiruveer’s first big release in nearly two years. In a recent interview, Thiruveer spoke about a few recent films which he rejected due to several reasons, and now regrets doing so.

Speaking to Gulte, Thiruveer recalls being offered two roles in Kingdom, and refusing them both. He elaborated, “Gowtham approach me for two roles – Singaa and Murugan.  When I saw Murugan’s character on screen, I felt great regret that I missed on such a good part.” Murugan’s role was eventually played by Malayalam actor Venkitesh, while Singaa was portrayed by Rajkumar Kasireddy.

Talking about other films, Thiruveer recalls being offered Sai Durgha Tej’s next project Sambarala Yeti Gattu. He said, “The director is my friend. He asked me to do a role, but I was doing a film called Bhagavathudu then, which was taking longer to shoot than expected. So I had to turn down SYG.”

Thiruveer also recalled not doing Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, where he was offered the role of Vishnu, for a different set of reasons. “They had the Tuck Jagdish role in mind as reference for this character. However, I didn’t want to get stereotyped. I would be bored to do similar role again. If I did that role, I feared people would think, ‘this is all he can do.’ After Masooda, I was able to break my image. If I did Salaar, I’d have to do it all over again.”

Thiruveer's last big film was Pareshan, which released in 2023. Meanwhile, The Great Pre Wedding Show clashes at the box office against bigger films like Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend and Sudheer Babu’s Jatadhara
