While many other big Telugu films are planning to revise their release plans, leading to a lot of postponements and unexpected box office clashes, Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG remains set for a theatrical release on September 25. With Balakrishna’s Akhanda makers reportedly planning to postpone their release, OG remains the solo big release that weekend, and expected to open big. On Saturday, the makers confirmed their big release plans by announcing the opening date for USA bookings for their film.
Distributed by Prathyangira Cinemas, OG will have its USA bookings opening on Friday, August 29. Earlier, the makers had already announced that they are planning special premiere shows in the US on September 24.
It is to be noted that the overseas bookings for Hari Hara Veera Mallu had commenced merely two weeks before its release. So this move by the makers of OG comes as confident move, instilling faith both in the distributors as well as film-goers after the box office failure of Hari Hara Veera Mallu. OG is produced under the banner of DVV Entertainment, with DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari as producers. Their previous film, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, was also billed as an actioner.
Written and directed by Sujeeth, OG promises to a high-octane stylised actioner. The film also stars Priyanka Mohan as the female lead. The film has many notable technicians on board like Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa helming the cinematography, and Navin Nooli as the editor. Among others, Peter Hein and Stunt Silva are part of the action choreography team.
Thaman S has composed music for the film. The first single of the film, ‘Firestorm’ has emerged as a massive chartbuster despite the initial mixed responses, garnering over 18 million hits on Youtube.
