After Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Pawan Kalyan is now gearing up for the release of his next big film, They Call Him OG. The action-thriller, written and directed by Sujeeth, will hit theatres on September 25. On Saturday, the makers finally kickstarted the promotions of their film with the single ‘Firestorm.’
Composed by Thaman S, ‘Firestorm’ is a catchy anthem, oozing with a heavy sound, groovy beats and interesting vocal arrangements that are more rhythmic in nature. There are many playback singers as part in the primary vocal section, including Tamil actor Silambarasan TR. Raja Kumari is the main female vocalist, and other playback singers include Nazeeruddin, Deepak Blue, Bharathraj and Thaman himself. Actor Arjun Das been credited for ‘dialogue vocals,’ meanwhile.
It’s an eclectic sound here in ‘Firestorm,’ and the influence of Japanese musical culture looms large in the arrangement style, especially with the use of Hukaido Taiko and War Drums (by the legendary A Sivamani), Nagado and Hirado Drums, and Japanese Koto and Guzhen.
For the lyrics, several writers have chipped in for different languages — Vishwa and Srinivas Mouli have penned the Telugu lyrics. The English lyrics are by Raja Kumari, while Japanese lyrics are by Adviteeya Vojjala.
The promotional music video too has been shot with a lot of lavishness and grandeur, incorporating the Japanese aesthetics in a bold manner. Thaman S makes a special appearance in the song, alongwith the main vocalist Raja Kumari. The makers have planned a special song launch ceremony on Saturday evening.
The team of OG includes stellar technicians like Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahansa who are the cinematographers, and Navin Nooli as the editor. AS Prakash helms the production design. Somaraju has been credited as the co-director for OG. Also, there are many action directors on board for the film, including notable names like Peter Hein and Kecha Khampakdee among others.
OG is produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under DVV Entertainment, who had last bankrolled the Nani starrer Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.
