Manchu Manoj has announced his next film, titled David Reddy, on the occasion of completing 21 years in the Telugu film industry on Wednesday. Directed by Hanuma Reddy Yakkanti, the film is described as a historical action drama set between 1897 and 1922, focusing on the life of a man born in the Madras Presidency, raised in Delhi, who wages a battle against British rule.
The announcement of David Reddy was made through a text-based poster that hints at Manoj’s intense look with the film’s title. Sharing it on social media, the actor captioned, “Born in the Madras Presidency, raised in Delhi. Now, shaking the British Empire,” hinting at the film’s freedom struggle backdrop. Produced by Motukuri Bharath and Nallagangula Venkat Reddy under the Velvet Soul Motion Pictures banner, the project is currently in pre-production, with the first look and casting details expected soon.
Speaking about the film, Manoj called it a “new chapter” in his career, promising to showcase him in an avatar audiences have not seen before. The film will combine action and period drama elements with a focus on socio-political undercurrents from the pre-independence era.
Manchu Manoj was last seen in Bhairavam, which is now streaming on OTTplay Premium, and will soon appear as the antagonist in Teja Sajja’s Mirai. Known for his action-driven roles, Manoj’s return with David Reddy signals his intent to take on larger-scale, historically rooted stories while continuing his comeback run in Telugu cinema.
