Actor Sivakarthikeyan opened up about his reluctance to take up villain roles, his hectic shooting schedule and the several projects he has lined up, offering a glimpse into his approach to choosing scripts.
At the 11th anniversary celebration event of the Tamil News Anchors Association on Sunday, Sivakarthikeyan was asked about his scepticism over taking up villainous roles. The Amaran actor indicated that while he has received several offers to play antagonists, he remains selective about such roles. He said his primary objective is to entertain the audience, who have acclaimed him for the past several years. "The audience has accepted me as a Hero, so I don't want to break that. As an actor, it is important to take up versatile roles, and if I am offered an opportunity to play the antagonist, that is equally entertaining, like a dual role, I would definitely take that up," Sivakarthikeyan said. The actor commented on the subject saying he is open to exploring experimental scripts while maintaining focus on commercial entertainers.
Meanwhile, the actor also spoke about his tight schedule and juggling multiple commitments, revealing that he has been working on two films simultaneously. His current schedule includes Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, and his yet-to-be-titled collaboration with Parking director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, provisionally referred to as SK27. The actor disclosed that while he is currently shooting for two films simultaneously, he's also been working on two scripts and has three other projects locked for production. "I have a total of seven stories on my mind," the actor said, indicating that he has a packed slate of projects in different stages of development.
Sivakarthikeyan, who began his career as a television presenter before making his mark in Tamil Cinema, has steadily established himself as a leading actor in the industry. His filmography spans prominently in commercial entertainers, family dramas and action films. Some of his works include Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (2013), Doctor (2021), Maaveeran (2023) and Amaran (2024). Alongside acting, the actor has also ventured into film production. With several projects in mind, the actor has a demanding schedule ahead.
