Actor Dhanush, last seen in Kara, is back on the sets of his film with Rajkumar Periasamy, tentatively titled D55. The film also stars Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in important roles and has music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Recently, in an interview with Touring Talkies, actor and dance choreographer Sandy revealed details about a song that he choreographed for the actor in D55. Sandy is gearing up for the release of his next, Parimala and Co, scheduled for June 5.
Speaking about the song, he said, "Recently, I did the choreography for Dhanush sir for Rajkumar Periasamy's film. His performance was too good for that song. After a long time, he will be dancing for the entire song. I was taken aback by his performance. It will be a blast in theatres."
Sandy further continued that Dhanush was extremely humble about his abilities before the director said 'action'. "When the cameras were off, he was hesitant and even asked me if he would be able to perform the dance routine correctly. The minute I said '5, 6, 7, 8', I didn't know where the energy came from. He was very spirited and high-energy. Even background dancers could not keep up with his energy. That was how good he was," he explained.
Sai Pallavi is uniting with Dhanush for the second time after Maari 2 (2018) and the director after their hit collaboration in Amaran. Sreeleela will be working on her sophomore project in Tamil after the recent Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi. Meanwhile, Mammootty is making his comeback to Tamil cinema seven years after director Ram's critically-acclaimed drama Peranbu (2019).
While plot details of D55 are currently unknown, the director had previously revealed, "My previous film was about a hero, a gallantry award recipient (Amaran). My next is about many unsung heroes who blend in within society. The protagonist will represent one such hero." Details regarding the rest of the cast members, the plot and a tentative release date have been kept under wraps.
D55 will be backed by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, in association with RTake Studios. The film was earlier set to be produced by Anbuchezhiyan and Sushmita Anbuchezhiyan under their Gopuram Films banner before the change took place.
