Pradeep Ranganathan is fresh off the release of his fourth film as lead, LIK, helmed by Vignesh Shivan. While the actor, whose first three films entered the Rs 100 crore club, is yet to announce his next starrer, reports are rife that he is all set to produce a film next.
If reports are true, this yet-to-be-titled film will mark Pradeep's sophomore production venture. The actor-director made his debut as a producer with Loveyapa, the Hindi remake of his Love Today. He was one of the many producers of the film.
If recent speculations are to be believed, Pradeep Ranganathan is set to back a women-centric film headlined by his Dude co-star, Mamitha Baiju. Reportedly, Ashwath Marimuthu, who helmed Pradeep's Dragon, will play the role of a police officer in the film.
While these reports have not mentioned a director, it is speculated that a debutant and an erstwhile assistant of Pradeep Ranganathan will helm the film. As per various reports, the film went on floors in Chennai on Tuesday, with an official announcement awaited.
Pradeep's collaboration with Mamitha, Dude, was helmed by Keethiswaran. The film opened to mixed reviews upon release but was a box-office success. Ashwath's and Pradeep's Dragon was both a commercial and a critical success.
Mamitha Baiju was last seen in Dhanush's Kara. She plays a lead role in Vijay's Jana Nayagan, which is yet to hit theatres. She is currently gearing up for Vishwanath & Sons, co-starring Suriya. She also has Irandu Vaanam with Vishnu Vishal, a film with Sangeeth Prathap, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit with Nivin Pauly in the pipeline.
Ashwath Marimuthu, who last helmed Dragon, is currently working on Silambarasan's STR 51, which is in the pre-production stage at present. Recently, there were reports that he will be helming Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 173 after speculations suggested that Cibi Chakravarthy exited the project. Cibi was roped in for the film, produced by Kamal Haasan, after Sundar C walked out due to creative differences. However, the makers are yet to confirm the same.
