Popular comedian Manohar of Lollu Sabha show-fame has accused fellow actor Santhanam and the makers of the 2019 film A1 for paying him a reduced rumuneration for his work on the movie.
Speaking about his experience working on the comedy entertainer directed by Johnson K, Manohar said he was paid just Rs 6000 as a day’s salary. "Since we were friends, I directly asked Santhanam, ‘Hey, I can’t even speak openly with you anymore. Please consider giving me a little more.’ But without giving any importance to that, he simply handed me Rs 6,000 and left," he shared.
Other than Santhanam, A1 also starred Tara Alisha Berry as the female lead. It also featured other noted comedians like Rajendran, Thangadurai, Swaminathan, Seshu, Lollu Sabha Maaran and others. The film received positive reviews from critics and became a box-office success.
Known for his expressive body language and comedy sequences in films, Manohar has worked alongside Santhanam in films like DD Returns and Biskoth, besides A1. He was last seen in VR Dinesh's Karuppu Pulsar.
In an earlier interview, the comedian detailed the reason for him not taking up many roles as he did earlier. "I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I decided to take a break from my career. But if you're wondering why I haven't been seen frequently in films, it's because the roles we portray online aren't fleshed out enough. Directors rarely approach experienced comedy actors for film roles," he said, sharing his regret on the industry for neglecting artists like him.
