At a recent interaction with the press, Rajinikanth dismissed rumours surrounding his interference in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's ascension to governance, post elections. He also addressed rumours of alleged jealously on Vijay's victory, which arose after he did not respond verbally, after being asked to comment at an airport.

"There was a commentary that I did not congratulate Vijay (on his victory in the assembly elections). After his victory I took to X to share my appreciation for the same. When I was at the airport, I enquired if there were any media people present, but after knowing that there weren't any, I entered the airport, when I was confronted by some man who did not seem like a media person. When he took my by surprise and said, 'Vijay has become CM,' I was shocked, and he did not look like a media person, so I just laughed and I left," said the actor.

He added, "There are also accusations that I am jealous of Vijay. I am not in politics. I have left politics. So, if I am not in that arena, why would I be jealous of Vijay. Maybe I would have been jealous if Kamal Haasan became CM. But even then I would't have become jealous. There is almost a 25-year age difference between Vijay and me. He and I have a generation gap. If I complain about Vijay, it doesn't bode well for me. If he complains about me, it wouldn't bode well for him. He has become the CM at such a young age. So why would his victories bother me?"

The actor also addressed his meeting with former CM MK Stalin after it was announced that the latter was defeated at the Assembly Elections.
