Rajinikanth cleared the air about meeting former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin after the latter's defeat at the recently concluded elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The actor was addressing rumours about him wanting to preventing Vijay's victory at the elections, which arose after the news of him meeting MK Stalin was revealed.

At a press interaction, held earlier today, the actor said, "After the results of the elections were announced, I went and met Stalin sir, which then led to the rise of some comments. Stalin sir is a friend of mine for 38-40 years, and our friendship transcends politics."

He added, "Victory or defeat is part and parcel of democracy. I was saddened to hear that Stalin had lost in Kolathur. So, I went to meet him as a friend. But that doesn't mean that I don't want Vijay to be the Chief Minister. The purpose of me visiting Stalin sir, was not to prevent Vijay from ascending to power. There were also rumours of me brokering a deal between two other parties. At that time I couldn't address any of these accusations because of how sour it was."

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate VS Babu defeated the incumbent, former CM MK Stalin, in the recent elections, with both contesting to represent the Kolathur constituency.
