Speaking about the incumbent chief minister, Kamal Haasan said, "Vijay should no longer be looked at as a cinema actor. He has other responsibilities. A chief minister could come from any walk of life. I am proud that he has come from the film industry.

Previously, Kamal Haasan also congratulated Vijay when his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, emerged as the single largest party on May 4 after results were announced.

Further, he voiced out against the governor for not allowing Vijay to form the government due to lack of a majority. In a long note on X, Kamal Haasan said the Tamil Nadu Assembly election verdict had resulted in a hung Assembly for the first time in the state’s history and stressed that the people’s mandate must be respected. He urged constitutional authorities to invite Vijay, whose Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam won 108 seats, to form the government. Kamal also cited the SR Bommai judgment, asserting that a majority should be tested on the Assembly floor and not at the Raj Bhavan.

On the work front, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Thug Life. He has KH 237 with Anbariv, which is currently in production. He is also set to share the screen with Rajinikanth in the KHxRK reunion, helmed by Nelson. Vijay, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of his swansong, Jana Nayagan, helmed by H Vinoth.
