Vijay's political entry and his subsequent triumph in the Tamil Nadu election have been a major point of discussion in film and political circles for the last few weeks. The latest to weigh in on it is director Vinayan, known for his films in Malayalam and Tamil, such as Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, its remake Kasi, Athbhutha Dweepu, and Pathonpatham Noottandu, among others.
Taking to social media, Vinayan wrote, "The bravado and boldness shown by actor Vijay to foray into politics from the field of cinema will be remembered forever. Film personalities always have prominence in Tamil politics. However, the victory earned by an actor who is not all that senior by overcoming all challenges and using his confidence alone is historic, especially in a field from which many, including Rajinikanth, stayed away with fear and where legendary actors such as Kamal Haasan failed."
Vinayan also highlighted that Vijay's achievement has come only two years after his political entry. However, he expressed cautious optimism about the superstar's potential tenure as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. "It remains to be seen what changes and developments Vijay will bring when he comes to power. We still do not know about his calibre as an administrator either." At the same time, the filmmaker also underscored the superstar's sacrifice to make the political entry. "Vijay's lone fight is a testament to his supreme self confidence, especially having decided to give up a big opportunity in a career where he can earn 100 crore per film," Vinayan wrote. He added, "If there is a governance devoid of corruption, that would be a surprise in Tamil Nadu."
He also asked 'scheming politicians' not to attack Vijay from right, left and centre to end his career but rather give him an opportunity. "My opinion is that that situation should not occur," the filmmaker wrote.
