Recently, we reported about Vijay and Trisha's public appearance at a time when the former is facing a divorce from his wife Sankgeetha. She filed for divorce with Vijay, citing a breakdown in their relationship and alleging that he is in an extramarital affair with an unnamed actress. Vijay and Trisha have long been rumoured to be in a relationship, and their recent appearance only intensified the speculation.

Many have found their appearance to be disrespectful towards Sankgeetha and have criticised them for it. While most expressed their criticism in a manner that has not courted controversy, not everyone has done the same. Take actor R Parthiban, for instance. He made certain contentious comments about Trisha that have been sparking outrage online.

In a video taken from an event, Parthiban was asked about his opinion about Trisha. The anchor can be heard asking him what he thinks of the actress in the picture behind him, addressing her as 'Kundavai,' referring to her Ponniyin Selvan character. In response, Parthiban said that Trisha should be kept inside her home and should not be allowed to go out so that certain issues would not surface.

While the actor did not mention Trisha and Vijay's speculated relationship, his comments have been linked to the same and been interpreted as his 'vile attack' of the '96 star. Because the actor did not mention Vijay and his role in the controversy, people are calling Parthiban out for blaming the woman for it. Therefore, when he put out a Women's Day post, where he emphasised the importance of respecting women, many netizens have been criticising him for his apparent hypocrisy.

At the same time, some people also support Parthiban for his 'bold' stance in the issue.
